Tax credits for income tax assessment 2019

There are a number of tax credit forms which may be applicable to resident tax payers, which need to be submitted to the tax authorities by 20th February. Below is breakdown of each of these tax credits, together with a link the relevant forms, and instructions of where these need to be submitted.

 

School Transport Fees

 

A deduction is available in respect of fees paid by parents of children under 16 years attending church schools or private schools in respect of school transport.  The deduction is allowable against the parent’s income for the year, up to a maximum of €150 per child, and shall only be allowed where the payment and details of the transport fees are confirmed by Transport Malta.

The relevant form is to be sent to the below address by no later than 20th February 2020:

Sports Fees

 

The fees for sports activities for children under 16 years can be claimed as a deduction from taxable income.

The relevant form is to be completed and signed by the entity providing the service, and submitted to the following address by no later than 20th February 2020:

Cultural & Creative course fees

 

Individuals who paid fees for cultural and creative courses during 2019, in respect of each child under 16 years of age can claim a deduction against personal income for each child.
